Course Overview

Maa Shakti Yog's Yin yoga teacher training is designed to give you a solid foundation in Yin yoga, a practice that focuses on passive stretching and relaxation to improve flexibility, circulation, and mental clarity.

Yin yoga is a gentle form of yoga that involves holding poses for several minutes at a time, with a focus on relaxation and deep breathing. This practice helps to release tension in the muscles and connective tissues, improve flexibility and joint mobility, and calm the mind.

To be a good teacher, you need the best guidance! Maa Shakti Yog conducts courses guided by veteran and registered Yoga Alliance teachers that will simply motivate you to become a professional, flexible, and of course, great yoga teacher.

Course Syllabus

Explore the history, philosophy, and foundational principles of Yin Yoga:

  • The Taoist concept of Yin and Yang and its application to modern physical wellness.
  • The Three Tattvas of Yin: Finding edge, resolving into stillness, and holding time.
  • Cultivating mindfulness, deep patience, and surrender in everyday life.

Understand the biological and mechanical response of the body to passive stretching:

  • Fascia networks, myofascial lines, and extracellular matrix hydration.
  • Skeletal variations: compression vs. tension, and why bone structure determines range of motion.
  • Safe joint stress vs. injury: protecting the spine, hips, knees, and shoulders.

Integrate Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian mapping with yogic asana:

  • The 12 main organ meridians and their associated emotional and physical functions.
  • The 5 Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and seasonal harmony.
  • Sequencing Yin postures to stimulate specific organ pathways (Liver/Gallbladder, Kidney/Urinary Bladder, Stomach/Spleen).

Comprehensive breakdown of key archetypal Yin postures and variations:

  • Butterfly, Dragon, Sphinx/Seal, Saddle, Shoelace, Caterpillar, and Swan poses.
  • Effective use of bolsters, blocks, blankets, and straps for optimal support.
  • Modifications for injuries, stiffness, and pregnancy.

How to design and lead deeply nourishing, safe Yin Yoga classes:

  • Creating cohesive theme-based sequences for relaxation, meridian balancing, and stress relief.
  • The art of verbal guidance, stillness, musical ambience, and silence.
